As the son of two U.S. Navy veterans, Dr. Lyman grew up with core values of service, integrity and commitment while living in both Florida and Alabama. As a graduate of Indian Springs School in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Lyman remains committed to his alma mater’s motto discere viviendo (learning through living) as lifelong student and educator, helping staff and patients achieve their goals by means of a supportive, safe and comfortable environment in his practice.

Dr. Lyman holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish and Latin American Studies from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a Masters in Biomedical Science from Barry University in Miami, Florida and his dental degree from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During his studies, Dr. Lyman lived abroad conducting research into dietary influences on pediatric dental population in Argentina, served as a residential assistant for John’s Hopkin’s University Center for Talented Youth in Mexico, and provided surgical care via volunteer missions such as Garces Foundation and Mission of Mercy.

After dental school, Dr. Lyman obtained his advanced training in surgery, medicine and anesthesiology. He completed a one-year surgical internship at University of Maryland Medical Center and R. Adam’s Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland where he focused heavily on head and neck cancer reconstruction and facial trauma. He then completed a 4-year accredited certificate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina where he received a high-level of broad scope training with significant experience in general surgery, anesthesiology, dentoalveolar procedures including zygomatic implants, TMJ open joint surgery, "Jaw-in-a-Day" reconstruction, and facial cosmetic surgery that enabled Dr. Lyman to confidently transition to private practice.

Outside of the office, Dr. Lyman carries his commitment to a high standard of patient care by attending continuing education courses to consistently refine his skillset and remaining an active member with numerous dental and surgical organizations listed below. Outside of the sciences, Dr. Lyman enjoys remaining active with his brother, Cyrus, with fitness, running, cycling, swimming, axe-throwing, video-games, tennis, golfing and reading. He consults as a reviewer for new upcoming dental textbooks and has published on Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
